Welcome to RentAid ("we," "our," or "us"). RentAid is operated by RentAid Private Limited, a company incorporated in India under the Companies Act, 2013 ("Company"). The Company is engaged in the business of facilitating owners and tenants, to explore and identify houses, flats, and other residential properties and enables them to lease and rent or otherwise relating to immovable properties and other related services ("Services").

Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and protect your information in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act of India, 2023.

This document is published on our online portal and we encourage users to review this Privacy Policy before accessing our website / availing our services.

Ensuring the protection and confidentiality of your information is paramount to us. We have implemented necessary and reasonable measures to safeguard the integrity of user information and its transmission over the internet.

By utilizing our services or providing us with your information, you explicitly agree to abide by the terms outlined in this privacy policy. You also consent to the utilization and disclosure of your Personal Information (as elaborated below) in accordance with the provisions of this Privacy Policy. 1. Data We Collect and Why We Need It

Under the DPDP Act, we only collect data that is strictly necessary for providing our renting services and further ancillary services in the future.

  • Identity Data — Full Name / Company Name (for B2B), Address, Gender. Purpose: to create accounts and verify user identity.
  • Contact Data — Phone Number & Email Address. Purpose: to facilitate communication and verify accounts.
  • Verification Data — Government-issued ID (e.g., Masked Aadhaar, PAN). Purpose: for mandatory identity verification and fraud prevention.
  • Financial Data — Bank Account / Statement Details. Purpose: to process/verify payments, deposits, or refunds.
  • Property Data — Property Photos, Address, Descriptions, Ownership details. Purpose: to list and market properties on our platform.
  • Technical Data — IP Address, Device ID, Cookies. Purpose: to maintain platform security and user experience.
  • Geo-Location Data — GPS Coordinates, Precise Location. Purpose: to display nearby properties, facilitate site visits, and verify property listings.
  • Communication Data — In-app messages, call logs, voice recordings (if applicable). Purpose: to monitor platform safety, resolve disputes between users, and prevent fraud.
  • Behavioral & Profile Data — Platform interactions, profile completeness, timely payments (rent, security deposit returns). Purpose: to power automated matching, assign platform trust scores, and recommend properties.

2. Consent

  • Consent Seekers: We process your personal data only after obtaining your free, informed, and unambiguous consent.
  • Right to Withdraw: You can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent will not affect the legality of data processing done before the withdrawal. If you withdraw consent, we will no longer be able to provide our services to you.

3. Data Sharing and Third-Party Disclosures

We do not sell your data. We only share data with third parties under strict contractual obligations in the following scenarios:

  • Between Users: We share relevant contact details and property data between matched renters and owners to facilitate rental agreements.
  • Service Providers: We share data with verified third-party vendors (e.g., payment gateways, government identity verification/e-KYC providers).
  • Legal Obligations: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or enforcement authorities.

We may collaborate with third parties to provide certain ancillary Services in the future. In such cases, the Company shares only the necessary Information required for these parties to deliver such Services. Contractual arrangements with these third parties restrict the use of your information except solely for the specific purpose of aiding in service provision. Information may be disclosed to affiliates or related entities as deemed appropriate by the Company.

4. Data Security and Breach Notification

We implement robust technical and organizational security measures to prevent data breaches, unauthorized access, or misuse. In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India (DPBI) and the affected users as required by law.

5. Your Rights and Duties as a Data Principal

Under the DPDP Act, you possess the following rights:

  • Right to Access: Request a summary of your personal data being processed and the identities of third parties it has been shared with.
  • Right to Correction & Erasure: Request us to correct inaccurate data, complete incomplete data, or erase data.
  • Right to Grievance Redressal: Register a complaint.

You also have the following duties under Section 15 of the Act:

  • To comply with the provisions of all applicable laws.
  • Not to impersonate another person while providing personal data.
  • Not to suppress any material information while providing personal data.
  • Not to register a false or frivolous grievance or complaint.

6. Children's Data

Our platform and services are strictly intended for individuals who are at least 18 years of age and possess the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts. RentAid does not knowingly collect or process personal data from minors (individuals under 18). If you are under 18, you are prohibited from registering an account, utilizing our services, or providing any personal data to us. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will take immediate steps to delete that information.

7. Retention of Data

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill our Service & other ancillary services as briefly outlined in this policy, or as required by applicable laws.

Cookies: We use cookies — small data files stored on your device by your web browser — to maintain session continuity, enhance platform security, and analyze site performance for uninterrupted service provision. While these tracking technologies help us record technical interactions and preferences, we do not use cookies to store direct, unencrypted Personal Information (such as your name, government ID, or financial details). You retain full control over these trackers and can manage, accept, or disable non-essential cookies at any time through your browser settings.

8. Future DPDP Act Compliances

Please note that certain procedural frameworks mandated by the DPDP Act and its 2025 Rules — such as the operationalization of registered Consent Managers and full automated rights fulfillment systems — are being rolled out by the government in phases through May 2027. These are yet to come, and we are actively working to be in compliance with them as and when they arrive.
